Ingham County Fair

We took Ava to the fair this year. We thought about taking her last year when we got home from the hospital , but it was too hot. When we got there we went to the petting zoo first. She wasn't a big fan of the goats licking her, but she enjoyed it. Then we decided to let her go on a ride, not sure how she was going to do, but she surprised us all and loved every single ride she went on.

Ava riding Mission to Mars...

Driving a car.....this kind of scared me at first because after it goes up a big hill it whips around the corner and I really thought she was going to fly out, but she came around all smiles. The whole time on this ride she had her right leg on the seat, her right arm on the back of the seat just drivin' and chillin'. Too cute...

We were walking through the barns looking at the different exhibits and I looked down to see Ava holdin' her papa's finger. It was priceless.

When we went to the doctors for Ava's 1 year check up, we go the okay to put her in a front facing car seat. Which she loves. Ava weighed in at 20# 15oz (10th %) and is 30" long (90th %)!!!
The big 1 year old!!!

Since Ava was such a good girl in her first year of life we decided to buy her some new wheels and let her drive. Just kiddin', but I did get a new set of wheels on her birthday. I love my minivan!!!

Swimming at Grammies

We also went swimming a couple of times during our last week of vacation at grammies. Ava loved the water.

Not so sure about this whole floating on my back thing....

Week 2 of vacation

Ava and I spent most of the second week of my vacation at my mom's. My mom had knee surgery on Tuesday July 22nd. Her surgery went good, only one mishap. The doctor went in looking to repair a medial mensical tear and it ended up being a lateral mensical tear. The following pictures of from our week at Grammies.

1st week of vacation

I have been on vacation for the last week and this week. So, I have had lots of time with Ava. It has been awesome just doing whatever we want when we want. We really haven't done anything big. Last week we spent an afternoon with Aunt Jennifer and Cameron, so I could put pictures in the scrapbook that I made for Cameron. Then we went shopping with them another day as well. On Saturday, Ava, myself and my two sisters headed up to 8 Point lake to spend the day with some old hockey friends. Ava developed 5 new friendships with the Russell and Savage girls.

4th of July

For the 4th we went up to Bois Blanc Island camping with some friends of ours, Amanda and Ben. For those of you who don't know where Bois Blanc Island a.k.a Bob-Lo, it is in the Straits of Mackinaw, 2 islands east of Mackinaw Island and north of Cheboygen. We left early Thursday morning for Cheboygen to catch the ferry. On Thursday we went down to the rocky beach to see how the water was.....very COLD, but we got in anyways. That night it was my night to make dinner, so I made spaghetti, it was a hit!!! Friday we got up and went pack to the rocky beach to get cleaned up and hang out for a bit before the fireworks. We watched 6 different cities fireworks from the pier that night, plus the ones being set off on the pier. Saturday we at lunch at the Bob-Lo Tavern and then stopped in for the annual fun day, but it was almost over with when we got there. Then off to Bible beach for some more swimming. Saturday night we just hung out at the property and played games, ate and sat around the camp fire. I wasn't sure how Ava was going to do with sleeping in a tent and just plain old camping, but she did AWESOME!!! And we made it through the weekend with only giving her the pacifier twice and her handing it back to us...........SO we are done with the PACIFIER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
